🌼 🎃 The 2023 Pumpkin Patch Guide

A roundup of local pumpkins for your lil' pumpkins

This is a bonus issue, because… pumpkins.

‘Tis the busy season and it’s easy to feel like a scarecrow trying to make festive plans on top of all my normal responsibilities. So, I decided to gather as much info as possible on the closest patches and share it with you. Below you will find detailed info of each spot, so you don’t have search, you can just pick a patch a make sweet memories with your little pumpkins.

Dive into the list below to see what fits your family best or if you need a little guidance to get you going, start right here:

➡️ If you have very young children, my friend Crystal Mincher recommended The Patch at Community Gardens because it’s a smaller, less overwhelming patch and the rides are geared toward younger children. Plus, it’s free, parking is a breeze, and you can grab yourself a coffee or a houseplant too.

➡️ If you want a family-focused, highly educational experience, I would recommend the Jersey Barnyard tours. The tours are focused on dairy production and agriculture, and geared toward a family experience. If you can go on a weekday, the environment is especially relaxed on those days. And they do have a bunch of pumpkins too, of course.

➡️ If you are meeting family from Austin, or you really want to get a good holiday photo, I would recommend either Elgin patches: the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm patch or the Evergreen Farms patch. Both have tons of cute family photo opportunities, and you can bring your pets on a leash to include in the photos. I really like that you can bring your own picnic to Evergreen Farms if you are tired of festival food.

➡️ If you have very active kids or you want a whole big bang of a day trip, I would recommend either Mama Mary’s Farm or the Crowe’s Nest Farm. Mama Mary’s is very autumn-activity focused if you want that old-timey feel and the Crowe’s Nest has a huge petting zoo, shows, and musicians, including Joe McDermott on October 21.
